Malaysia: Rubber Market To Trade Cautious Next Week

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) — The Malaysian rubber market is expected to see cautious trading next week as market players continue to look for positive remarks from the recent US Federal Reserve policy meeting, said a dealer.

“Traders want to see if there is anything in the minutes to favourably impact the rubber market,” he told Bernama.

He said the demand from China, a major rubber consumer, would also be among the factors to determine the position of the natural rubber market.

For the week-just-ended, rubber prices were mostly lower due to the strengthening of the ringgit and weaker buying support.

On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the Malaysian Rubber Board`s sellers official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 fell 11 sen to 574 sen per kg, while latex-in-bulk slid 12.5 sen to 493.50 sen per kg.

The unofficial sellers` closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 slipped eight sen to 575 sen per kg, while latex-in-bulk was 13.5 sen lower at 490.50 sen per kg.
